António Payan Martins

António Payan Martins is a partner and head of Banking & Finance practice at CMS Portugal. His main area of focus is banking and finance, with special emphasis on acquisition finance, leveraged & mezzanine finance, project and infrastructure finance, structured finance and products.

He is well versed in special situations, restructurings, turnarounds and transactions involving distressed assets and non-performing loans.

He has also extensive experience in regulatory and antitrust matters in the financial sector with particular focus on antitrust matters, horizontal agreements and collusive practices, vertical restraints, distribution and consumer products. Moreover, he has been advising on complex transactions involving Portuguese-speaking countries, in particular project and infrastructure financing and planning, and structuring of foreign investments.
