Andrea DeField has dedicated her career to helping clients manage risk and maximize insurance recovery. As part of her counseling practice, Andrea adds value to business deals by advising clients on contractual risk transfer through indemnity, additional insured, and required insurance provisions in contracts. She also helps clients identify and mitigate risk before a loss occurs by conducting insurance due diligence for mergers and acquisitions.
Andrea regularly audits clients’ cyber, crime, directors and officers, and other insurance programs to identify gaps in coverage before renewal and works with clients, their brokers, and insurers to fill gaps through manuscript endorsements.
When a loss has occurred or a claim has been made, Andrea helps policyholder clients maximize insurance recovery through litigation or alternative dispute resolution of coverage disputes. She has handled and tried insurance coverage and bad faith cases in courts throughout the country.
Andrea is active in the American Bar Association Section of Litigation’s Insurance Coverage and Litigation Committee.
Andrea is a prolific author and lecturer on insurance topics including insurance coverage and bad faith litigation, emerging risks, directors and officers (D&O), professional liability, cyber, recall, pollution, general liability, Bermuda form, and windstorm insurance issues.
