Work Highlights

Mr. Xu Yu is Director of the Management Committee and Senior Partner of Beijing Hylands Law Firm. He also serves as Partner-in-Charge of the Dispute Resolution Department and the Bankruptcy Reorganization and Special Assets Disposal Department.

As Director of the Management Committee, Mr. Xu is responsible for the firm’s overall operation and management, including the formulation and implementation of internal policies and management systems. His responsibilities cover the coordination of administrative, financial, human resources and marketing functions, as well as the unified management and coordination of Hylands’ branch offices nationwide. In addition, he oversees the firm’s financial affairs, with primary responsibility for annual budget approval, the establishment of financial management systems and the integration of tax planning across the firm.

As Partner-in-Charge of the Dispute Resolution Department, Mr. Xu leads the firm’s largest practice group, comprising 10 partners and approximately 40 associates and legal assistants. He has extensive experience advising and representing large state-owned enterprises, well-known corporate groups, institutions and overseas investment enterprises in dispute resolution matters. With a solid foundation in legal theory and a deep understanding of China’s business environment and commercial practices, Mr. Xu is committed to providing practical, comprehensive and efficient legal solutions tailored to the needs of each client and each matter.

Mr. Xu also founded the Bankruptcy Reorganization and Special Assets Disposal Department, which has rapidly developed into one of the firm’s core practice groups. The department currently consists of 30 partners and more than 100 associates and legal assistants, making it the fastest-growing business department within Hylands. In this role, Mr. Xu is responsible for the coordination and integration of the entire practice group, including practice development, theoretical research and market development, as well as facilitating the registration of insolvency practitioners with courts at all levels for the firm’s branch offices nationwide.

Focusing on bankruptcy reorganization and special assets disposal, Mr. Xu has been involved in numerous enterprise bankruptcy and restructuring cases. He has acted in multiple capacities, including as insolvency administrator, legal adviser to financial creditors’ committees, legal adviser to creditors, legal adviser to reorganizers, and legal adviser to government authorities, enabling him to provide comprehensive legal services throughout the full course of bankruptcy and reorganization proceedings.
