Based in Dusseldorf and Munich, Wolrad is partner in the German patent litigation team at Freshfields. Wolrad has been working over 20 years in the field of intellectual property and particularly patents and has built an extensive track record in patent litigation and enforcement proceedings, acting and advising on a wide range of proceedings before the specialized patent courts in Germany and on cross-border proceedings. A wide range of national and international clients from the technology and telecommunication as well as biotech and pharma sectors trust his strategic advice and representation in court proceedings. Since the inception of the Unified Patent Court, Wolrad is representing several clients in complex proceedings before various local and central divisions as well as the Court of Appeal.
Before joining Freshfields, he worked as Scientific Researcher at the Max-Planck-Institute for Intellectual Property, Competition and Tax Law and served as programme director at the Munich Intellectual Property Law Center (MIPLC) where he was responsible, inter alia, for the LL.M. IP programme. Parallel to his LL.M. studies at the George Washington University in Washington D.C. in 2006/2007, he worked for The Honorable Judge Rader at the CAFC.
