Career

Qualified in 1997 (England & Wales), 1998 (Ireland). Graduate of Trinity College, Dublin (LLB), Cambridge University in 1994 (LLM) and College of Law, Chester in 1995 (LPC). Valerie qualified as a solicitor with Slaughter and May in London, joined McCann FitzGerald in 1997 and became a partner in 2004.

Valerie advises on corporate and commercial matters, and has a particular expertise in renewables, energy and natural resources law.

Valerie has been centrally involved in the Irish energy market since its liberalisation in the early 2000s. She has extensive experience advising on renewables, clean energy and sustainability projects for project acquirers, developers and offtakers as well as the sector regulators, such as the Commission for Regulation of Utilities and the Single Electricity Market Operator.
