Ian Payne graduated from University College Dublin (LLM) in 2010 and qualified in 2014. He trained in McCann FitzGerald LLP and became a Partner with the firm in 2022. He focuses on the full spectrum of aircraft finance, leasing, acquisition, sale and ongoing asset management. He acts for numerous prominent global leasing companies and advises new entrants on setting up aircraft leasing operations in Ireland. He routinely handles sophisticated cross-border lease negotiations and supports clients with sale and leaseback deals, portfolio sales and purchases, and aircraft repossessions. In addition, he regularly serves as both lead transaction counsel and Irish local counsel for borrowers and financiers on secured aircraft financings and provides advice on GATS-related structures and documentation.
