Thomas S. D’Antonio is a seasoned trial and appellate lawyer and partner at Hodgson Russ with more than 40 years of experience resolving complex disputes in higher education, healthcare, employment, and commercial settings. He has tried numerous bench and jury cases, as well as mediations and arbitrations. He has argued over 100 federal and state appeals, earning a reputation for clarity and precision.
Tom represents hospitals, nursing homes, academic medical centers, and provider networks in matters involving reimbursement, fraud and abuse investigations, False Claims Act litigation, credentialling and professional licensure. He also guides clients through internal and governmental investigations.
In the higher education sector, Tom works with colleges, universities, and independent schools on faculty tenure disputes, tenure revocation, Title IV, VI, VII, and IX claims, academic freedom issues, governance matters, discrimination and retaliation claims, student discipline, and scientific and academic misconduct matters. He also regularly represents employers in the array of workplace discipline and misconduct matters they face.
Tom serves on the federal mediation panel for the Western District of New York. He received the first Distinguished Counsel award from United Educators, a member-owned collective representing more than 1,000 universities nationwide.
