Career
Thiago Araújo works in the areas of public, infrastructure and regulatory law. He served as general Attorney of the Regulatory Agency of Public Services for Waterway, Rail and Subway Transportation (Agetransp), and as a Special Legal Advisor at the Civil Works Secretariat of the State of Rio de Janeiro. He is a State Attorney of Rio de Janeiro since 2006 and is currently the head of the taskforce that represents the State before the State Court of Accounts. In his professional trajectory, Thiago served as the head of the Legal Department of the Secretariat of Infrastructure, Construction and Cities for over 12 years, until March 2025.
Personal
Thiago is also a professor of Law and Economics at the Economics University and in postgraduate courses at Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV), in topics related to administrative and regulatory law. He is also a member of the panel of arbitrators of the FGV Mediation and arbitration Chamber. Thiago holds a bachelor’s degree in Law, a master’s degree in Public Law and a Ph.D. in Legal Theory from Universidade do Estado do Rio de Janeiro (UERJ), an MBA in Pension Funds from Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) and an MBA in Public-Private Partnership (PPP) and Concessions from the London School of Economics, in partnership with Fundação Escola de Sociologia e Política de São Paulo (FESPSP). Moreover, he attended the "Infrastructure in a Market Economy" course held at the Harvard Kennedy School in May 2022. He is the author of “Análise Econômica do Direito no Brasil” (“Economic Analysis of Law in Brazil”, in free translation), published by Lumen Juris (2016), and the author of several articles and chapters of books published in Brazil, mostly of administrative contracts, infrastructure and regulation.
