Flavio is one of Brazil’s leading specialists in the area of supplementary pensions, mainly focused on the operation of closed pension entities (pension funds). In his almost 40 years of practice, he has held a number of leadership positions in various renowned institutions, such as RioPrevidência and the Institute for the Certification of Social Security Professionals (ICSS). He is a member of the International Pension & Employee Benefits Lawyers Association (IPEBLA), a major world-wide association in the sector, based in Canada.

Personal

He is the editor of Revista de Previdência (Editora Gramma) and author of the books “Fundos de Pensão de Servidores Públicos” (Pension Funds for Public Servants) and “Fundos de Pensão: Temas Jurídicos” (Pension Funds: Legal Issues) (Editora Renovar). Internationally, he is the author of the Study on the Brazilian Complementary Pension System published in the journal A Comparative Survey of Pension Law Issues, published by IPEBLA. He has also been a speaker at IPEBLA world conferences in various cities. Lecturer about Supplementary Pension Legislation at the Connect Institute of Social Law (ICDS), he holds a Bachelor of Laws from the State University of Rio de Janeiro (UERJ), an MBA in Pension Funds also from UFRJ, a Postgraduate degree in Pension System Reforms from Harvard University and a Master’s Degree in Tax Law from Cândido Mendes University (UCAM).
