Steven is a partner in the Intellectual Property Litigation Group in Toronto. Focused primarily on contentious patent litigation, he has led some of Canada’s largest and most significant patent infringement actions in the oil & gas, pharmaceutical and telecommunications sectors. He also leads our firm’s Oil and Gas Patent Litigation practice, with a strong track record of successful litigation outcomes at the trial and appellate levels and across a range of technologies including SAGD, eMSAGP, eMVAPEX, modularization, fracking, proppants, directional drilling, pipeline transmissions, and pipeline pigging.

Personal

Steven is the national lead for the Abilities Action Group which promotes awareness and provides support for mental health and accessibility. Steven is an adjunct professor at Osgoode Hall Law School teaching “Litigating IP Cases” and has for many years taught patent law. Steven is frequently asked to speak on patent law topics and regularly serves as a moot Court judge for intellectual property. Steven regularly assists with leading the firm’s teams in support of the Princess Margaret Ride to Conquer Cancer, Campfire Circle (Sporting Life 10k), and the United Way ClimbUP Challenge. As part of the firm’s band, he has played a variety of events in support of social causes including AIDSbeat at the El Mocambo and a firm event at the Rivoli.
