Practice Areas

Steven is a partner in the Intellectual Property Litigation Group in Toronto. Focused primarily on contentious patent litigation, he has led some of Canada’s largest and most significant patent infringement actions in the oil & gas, pharmaceutical and telecommunications sectors. He also leads our firm’s Oil and Gas Patent Litigation practice, with a strong track record of successful litigation outcomes at the trial and appellate levels.

Over the course of the past three years Steven has been trusted to lead and co-lead several of the highest-stakes patent infringement and patent impeachment actions in the Federal Courts.

Personal

Steven is the national co-lead for the Abilities Action which promotes awareness and provides support for mental health and accessibility. For many years Steven has been an adjunct professor at Osgoode Hall Law School teaching patent law. Steven is frequently asked to speak on patent law topics and regularly serves as a moot Court judge for intellectual property. Steven regularly leads the firm’s teams in support of the Princess Margaret Ride to Conquer Cancer and Campfire Circle (Sporting Life 10k). As part of the firm’s litigation band, he has played a variety of events in support of pride and AIDS research, including an industry event at the El Mocambo and upcoming event at the Rivoli.
