Stephan specialises in public and private M&A, splits and spin-offs, joint ventures and integration measures. He advises listed companies as well as family owned and private businesses on both national and cross-border transactions including complex carve-outs. Stephan also has vast experience with respect to boards’ fiduciary duties, governance questions, compliance and investigations, as well as in capital markets law, in particular disclosure requirements of listed companies. Stephan is global Co-Chair of Freshfields for the industrial sector group and has also significant experience in the IT/health care, infrastructure and consumer products sectors.

Career

Stephan has been a partner since 2007. In 2004, he worked at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett, New York. He's also worked as a member of academic staff at the universities of Essen and Bochum, and has a PhD in law.
