Alexander Glos is a partner at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer in Frankfurt. He co-leads the firm’s financial institutions sector group as well as the global fintech team. He is a member of the practice group Global Transactions. His practice covers the entire spectrum of banking and capital markets regulation.

He advises banks and other financial service providers as well as fintechs and unregulated companies on all aspects of financial supervisory law.

In this context Alexander works on M&A and portfolio transactions as well as restructurings and reorganizations in the financial sector. He has particular expertise in Banking Union matters (Single Supervisory Mechanism and Single Resolution Mechanism). Alexander has frequent dealings with various regulators such as the European Central Bank and the German BaFin.

Career

Alexander joined Freshfields in 2003 and has been a partner since 2009. Since 2019 he is Co-Head of Financial Institutions Group and co-leads our Global Fintech Group.

In the course of his career he completed a six-month secondment at Deutsche Bank.

Publications

Alexander Glos regularly lectures and publishes articles on banking supervisory law topics and is the editor of a handbook on banking supervisory law.
