Shelagh Carnegie is a partner in Gowling WLG’s Toronto office and the co-head of the firm's Global Intellectual Property Group. Shelagh’s practice focuses on all aspects of the trademark prosecution lifecycle.

Over her career, Shelagh has provided sophisticated solutions to companies across an array of industry sectors, including alcohol, automotive, cannabis, clothing, food & beverage, consumer products, manufacturing, medical devices, professional services, social media and technology. Clients – including a number of Fortune 500 companies – value Shelagh’s ability to align herself with their business objectives and develop strategies and reporting structures to suit their particular needs.

She works with colleagues in Canada, China, France, Germany, the UK, Singapore, the UAE and other locales to strengthen and streamline the firm's offerings across all areas of IP law – including IP prosecution, enforcement, litigation and transactional work.

Shelagh has also been recognized in Managing Intellectual Property: IP Stars, World Trademark Review 1000, World Trademark Review Global Leaders and Chambers Global. In 2020, she was included in Managing Intellectual Property’s “Top 250 Women in IP”. Shelagh was named to the Legal 500 Canada 2023 Hall of Fame.
