Daniel Cole is a partner in Gowling WLG’s Toronto office, head of Toronto’s Intellectual Property Group and past leader of the national Advertising & Regulatory Practice Group.
Daniel practises exclusively in the areas of advertising, marketing and regulatory law, with a focus on contest design & review, automotive advertising, packaging & labelling, e-commerce law and promotional copy review. He also advises clients on consumer protection law and the legal logistics of developing e-commerce platforms.
A large part of Daniel’s practice involves advising on social media legal issues, including the design of targeted social media programs, drafting social media policies and managing public relations concerns.
Daniel helps clients navigate a constantly evolving landscape. He regularly works with clients’ legal and executive teams to manage risk and streamline processes related to their advertising and marketing.
Previously adjunct faculty at Osgoode Hall Law School. Daniel has also been recognized in The Canadian Legal Lexpert® Directory and The Best Lawyers™ in Canada and named an "Acritas Star" from 2018 to 2020. He was recognized as one of Lexpert®’s “Rising Stars: Leading Lawyers Under 40” in 2020.
