Ronnie’s employment practice encompasses both statutory claims in the Employment Tribunal and employee competition/ breach of contract disputes in the High Court. He regularly appears for employers and employees at lengthy hearings in the Tribunal, particularly in claims for discrimination and whistleblowing, and has acted as sole counsel in the EAT and Court of Appeal. He also has extensive experience of employee competition disputes, and has recently acted in a number of international team move cases. Clients include major employers in the technology, travel and entertainment sectors; as well as senior executives, office holders and professionals.
Ronnie’s public law practice predominantly involves pursuing or defending applications for judicial review, often in a commercial context. He has acted in a number of high-profile judicial review claims on behalf of private companies, local authorities and central government. Recent cases include acting for the operator of a private hire app defending its licence to operate in London (R (UTAG) v TfL [2022] EWCA Civ 1026); and acting for seven local authorities in the West Midlands challenging the Home Secretary’s policy for asylum dispersal in the UK (R (City of Wolverhampton Council & Ors) v SSHD [2022] EWHC 1721).
