Often sought as the Counsel of choice by both sides on numerous occasions for statutory appeals, criminal enforcement investigations and judicial review.

Recent clients: Morrisons Supermarkets plc (sewer dispute with statutory undertaker delaying construction of store), Murco Petroleum Limited (challenge to Emission Trading Scheme by appeal and judicial review), Viridor Waste Management Limited (abatement notice appeal, odour from landfill) , Peel Land and Property Limited (interpretation of commercial lease and dispute over removal of production residues), Biffa Waste Services Limited (transfrontier shipment of waste), the Drinking Water Inspectorate, Environment Agency, Food Standards Agency, local authorities and London Boroughs.

Recent Court of Appeal cases include: Biffa Waste Services Limited [2020] EWCA Crim 827 (leading case on the enforcement of the transfrontier shipment of waste regulations).

Career

LLB(Hons), LLM. Called to the Bar in 1998. Legal adviser at Environment Agency Head Office and secondment as a Prosecutor. Counsel on the Attorney General’s List of Specialist Regulatory Counsel since 2001. Appointed to the ‘A’ List in 2012.
