Practice Areas
Reena is National Energy Regulatory Co-Lead with an energy law practice focusing on electricity markets, regulation and compliance. Her practice includes acting for generators, commercial and industrial loads, utilities, transmitters, distributors, demand response aggregators, traders, retailers and gas marketers. She provides strategic regulatory advice and advocacy to shareholders, acquirers, investors and developers of a variety of power assets.
Career
Reena has appeared before the Canada Energy Regulator, Ontario Energy Board, the Alberta Utilities Commission and all levels of courts in Ontario, regularly representing participants and stakeholders in electricity market compliance investigations and reliability standards audits.
Reena was formerly a lawyer with Ontario’s Independent Electricity System Operator, with roles in Regulatory Affairs, Market Assessment and Compliance, and Senior Advisor to the CEO.
Professional Memberships
She serves as a roster adjudicator for the Electrical Safety Authority, the Association of Professional Engineers of Ontario and the electricity transmission dispute resolution panel established under Annex 309 of the Canadian Free Trade Agreement.
Reena also co-teaches The Law and Economics of Electricity Markets at Osgoode Hall Law School.
