Joan advises domestic and international clients on a full range of business matters, complex commercial transactions, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, and procurement. Her practice covers a broad range of sectors and industries, including private equity, financial services, technology, natural resources, aquaculture and retail. Joan is also experienced with corporate governance matters.
Joan joined the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation's BC/Yukon Region Board in 2001, serving as chair from 2012 to 2014. She has served on their National Board of Directors from 2015 and chaired the National Governance and Nominating Committee.
Joan was an adjunct professor in the Faculty of Law at the University of Victoria teaching an advanced transactions course. She previously taught a closed corporations course at the Faculty of Law at the University of British Columbia.
