Joan advises domestic and international clients on a full range of business matters, complex commercial transactions, mergers and acquisitions and joint ventures. Her practice covers a broad range of sectors and industries, including private equity, technology, health sciences, natural resources, aquaculture, tourism and retail. Joan is also experienced with corporate governance matters.

Joan also advises on venture and private equity financings and the purchase and sale of private businesses, both domestically and with cross-border components.

Professional Memberships

Joan joined the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation's BC/Yukon Region Board in 2001, serving as chair from 2012 to 2014. She has served on their National Board of Directors from 2015 and chaired the National Governance and Nominating Committee.

Personal

Joan was an adjunct professor in the Faculty of Law at the University of Victoria teaching an advanced transactions course. She previously taught a closed corporations course at the Faculty of Law at the University of British Columbia.
