Career
Köves Péter founded Lakatos, Köves & Partners Law Firm ("LKT") in 1991 and the office acceded to the global network of Clifford Chance shortly thereafter. An equity partner of Clifford Chance for more than 15 years and the Senior Partner of LKT. A key player in several privatization transactions, the brains behind of various new type finance treaties in their Hungarian adaptation and introducing complex structured financial transactions in PPP (both the M5 and M6 motorway projects led by him were awarded the “Deal of the Year” and Péter was awarded by the Minister of Economy and Transport). Péter has been acting as arbitrator of MKIK-, ICC- and other permanent and ad hoc (UNCITRAL) arbitrary tribunals.
Professional Memberships
Dr. Péter Köves has been actively taken part in the international lawyer public life since about 2000. He is a delegation member of Council of Bars and Law Societies of Europe (CCBE) and represents the Hungarian Bar Association in the Council of the International Bar Association (IBA).
Publications
Author of numerous banking finance professional publications and the editor of the only PPP handbook published in Hungary.
Personal
Awarded with the "Eötvös Prize", “The Lawyer” and "For the Legal Profession" Awards by the Hungarian Bar Association. He was granted the Great Cross of Austria and the highest appraisal of the Federal Bar of the Russian Republic and Polish Bar as well.
