Career

Dr. Balázs Fazakas, partner is the head of litigation and dispute resolution group at Lakatos, Köves & Partners (“LKT”). Balázs is a real new generation partner with an experience of over ten years. He is an acknowledged lawyer before the Hungarian and international courts and arbitration tribunals and highly ranked by international rating agencies.

Balázs is uniquely positioned to advise on problematic issues and represent clients in domestic and cross-border litigation, international arbitration and investigations. He has successfully represented LKT’s clients before the main Hungarian and European courts, including the Constitutional Court of Hungary, the European Court of Justice and the European Court of Human Rights. He has considerable experience before international arbitration courts, such as the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID) and is a qualified ICC Arbitrator.

Balázs takes the lead in the vast majority of LKT’s dispute resolution mandates.

LKT is regularly hosting the annual Budapest Willem C. Vis Pre-Moot (International Commercial Arbitration Moot), where Balázs is cooperating as an arbitrator. The Budapest Pre-moot is an international competition for law students, designed to help them prepare for the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot, which is one of the largest and most prestigious international moot court competitions in the world. The Pre-moot allows teams to practice their skills in front of arbitrators and receive feedback from experienced practitioners in the field of international commercial arbitration. It also provides an opportunity for law students to network and engage with peers from around the world who share an interest in international commercial law.
