Practice Areas

Owain has substantial experience in heavy commercial litigation, focussing on competition law, civil fraud, company law and arbitration. His commercial law experience encompasses injunctive relief, claims under foreign law and Arbitration Act proceedings. His competition practice covers mergers and infringements in commercial contexts and regulated industries. He has particular experience in competition and commercial issues arising in the electricity, oil and gas industries.

Recent cases have included PJSC Tatneft v Bogolyubov [2021] EWHC 411 (Comm) (civil fraud; Russian law), Phones 4U Limited v EE Ltd [2021] 1 WLR 3270 (competition law; disclosure) and Halliburton Co v Chubb Bermuda Insurance Ltd [2020] UKSC 48 (arbitration; apparent bias). He is presently instructed by, amongst others, Deutsche Bank (in competition proceedings in relation to USD LIBOR), Phones 4U (in a High Court cartel claim) and defendants to major fraud claim in the BVI.
