Olivia is a Partner and Head of the Media and Entertainments team at Carson McDowell. Her extensive Court of Appeal work includes libel, privacy, data protection, copyright and anonymity.
Olivia provides clearance advice to print / broadcast media including UTV (ITV Plc), INM Plc, CNN, International and Facebook. Olivia provides content clearance and rights advice for independent productions companies such as ScreenDog and Ronan Films, and advises all major broadcasters. Olivia is a highly experienced practitioner routinely instructed by leading newspapers, publishers and broadcasters.
Olivia is a member of the Law Society of Northern Ireland, the Law Society of Ireland and the Society of Editors and is a past Chair of the Belfast Solicitors’ Association.
Olivia graduated with a first class honours degree from Queen’s University Belfast in 2004 and qualified as a solicitor in 2006 from the Institute of Professional Legal Studies. She later qualified as a higher rights of audience Solicitor Advocate in September 2012. Olivia is currently undertaking a post graduate Diploma in Intellectual Property Law and Practice, Oxford University.
