Niko has practiced in the real estate industry for more than 20 years and has been a partner at Freshfields since 2008. He has a broad range of experience in handling real estate transactions, real estate restructurings and project developments in Germany and Europe for national and international investors. He also assists European investors on their acquisitions in the US and Asia.

Career

Niko joined Freshfields in 2001 in Berlin. He moved to Hamburg, was seconded to an opportunistic investor in London in 2006 and regularly works also in the Berlin, Frankfurt and Munich offices. He is the managing partner of the Hamburg office and heads our German real estate practise.

Niko is a legal author on various regulatory aspects of real estate investments and ESG related aspects in the real estate industry.

Personal

Niko studied Law and History in Hamburg, Freiburg, Berlin and Oxford. He graduated in 1997 at the Humboldt University in Berlin, where he also received his PhD in 2001. He took a master in Oxford in 2000/1. During his traineeship, he spent 6 months in a law firm in New York.
