Mr. Hughes is a senior litigator in McCarthy Tétrault’s Vancouver Office specialized in all facets of environmental law. His clients are primarily in the transportation, mining, industrial and real estate sectors. His practice spans from comprehensive compliance related advisory services, through to all manner of dispute resolution services, including regulatory litigation, regulatory appeals, judicial review of regulatory decisions, defending criminal prosecutions of environmental offences, civil claims arising from environmental disputes and appeals arising therefrom. The environmental litigation Mr. Hughes is engaged in includes litigation in relation to wildfires, contaminated sites, Fisheries Act prosecutions, Migratory Birds Act prosecutions, Transportation of Dangerous Goods Act prosecutions, Canadian Environmental Protection Act prosecutions, Environmental Management Act Litigation (including permit appeals), and herbicide litigation under the Integrated Pest Management Act and in respect of civil liability.
