Provided by Matthew Cutts
Matthew Cutts, recognized by The Hill newspaper as a "Top Lobbyist," is Dentons’ head of US Policy and Government Relations. With a background in complex litigation and his knowledge of Capitol Hill and the Executive Branch, Matthew is known for getting things done for clients where business, law and policy intersect. Specifically, he coordinates large multilayered public policy initiatives and helps his clients achieve their most sought-after federal legislative objectives.
Though he works across many public policy disciplines, he spends much of his time advocating on tax policy. In this role, he has advocated on the OECD’s Base Erosion and Profit Shifting Plan; counsels clients on so-called tax inversions; ensures tax parity and fair treatment for his clients; and advocates tax policies intended to spur economic growth and development.
Matthew has served in leadership roles on the 2010 presidential finance and transition teams as well as the Chair of the District of Columbia Sports and Entertainment Commission, overseeing the construction of the world-champion Washington Nationals’ home stadium. Matthew also serves on the Executive Committee of the Federal City Council. Previously, Matthew served as a law clerk to Chief Judge Annice M. Wagner of the District of Columbia Court of Appeals.
