Samuel Maizel

Partner in Dentons’ Restructuring, Insolvency and Bankruptcy group, Sam is a nationally recognized expert on the restructuring of financially distressed healthcare entities and recently represented the debtors in Verity Health System, the second largest non-profit hospital bankruptcy in American history, and Astria Health, with three non-profit hospitals. He has served as counsel to official committees, trustees, government entities, and individual creditors, as well as being a Trustee, Examiner, Patient Care Ombudsman and Consumer Privacy Ombudsman.

Sam served in the US Army, first as an Infantry Officer and subsequently as an attorney in the Judge Advocate General Corps, and served as a trial attorney in the Civil Division of the US Department of Justice, and was a partner in a nationally recognized bankruptcy boutique.

Member (formerly Chair), American Bar Association Standing Committee on Armed Forces Law and American Bar Association Business Bankruptcy Committee; Member, California Society of Healthcare Attorneys (formerly Board of Directors).
