As Co-Head of the Liability Management and Special Situations group and a member of the Capital Structure Solutions Practice, Marisa Stavenas is a Partner in the Firm’s Capital Markets Practice with a wide ranging practice advising corporate, investment banking, private equity and advisory clients on an array of complex domestic and international capital raising, investment and liability management and restructuring matters, including secured and unsecured debt issuances, private and other structured investments, tender and exchange offers (debt and equity), reorganizations and other liability management transactions and other equity transactions. She also regularly advises corporate clients on securities laws, corporate governance and other general corporate matters.
Career
Joined Simpson Thacher in 1999; became Partner in 2010.
Professional Memberships
Member of the Steering Committee of the Kate Stoneman Project, a leadership organization comprising women partners at leading New York-based law firms; serves as a mentor with W.O.M.E.N. in America to help professional businesswomen advance their careers; Member of the Board of Visitors of Georgetown Law School; former Chairman of the Board of Trustees of All Souls School, an early childhood day school.

Served as a contributing editor of Getting the Deal Through: Acquisition Finance and co-authored the United States chapter (2013-2020).
