Career
Lawyer and economist. She has worked for more than 20 years with Energy Law and is widely acknowledged for her expertise in regulatory and renewable energy issues. Currently President of the Energy Commission of OAB/SP (Brazilian Bar Association/São Paulo Section) and of the Economic Regulation Commission of OAB/MG (Minas Gerais Section). Maria João is also a professor of the Electric Energy Sector Regulation course at FGV and of the MBA in Business Management for the Electric Sector at the Faculty of Integration of Higher Education in the Southern Cone; professor and coordinator of the LLM Postgraduate Course in Energy and Business Law at CEDIN and of the Modernization of the Electric Sector course at the Brazilian Association of Infrastructure and Base Industries.
