Elizabeth Lan Lan was a founding partner of the international practice of JT&N. She is widely recognized as a leading lawyer in the PRC M&A and financial service areas, advising some of the largest multinational financial and industrial groups in the world. Her experience focuses on multi-industry M&A transactions, compliance and regulatory matters for financial service companies, especially insurance, asset management and bank holding companies.
One of the foremost experts on insurance law and the insurance industry in China, Ms. Lan counts as her clients some of the most prominent insurance companies in the industry, whom she advises on every aspect of their investments and operations in China.
Ms. Lan has significant experience advising multinational clients on the structure of their presence in China through acquisitions or formation of green-field companies. Her clients benefit from her in-depth knowledge of the details and nuances of PRC laws and regulations, as well as the policies and politics behind promulgated laws and regulations, which together form the regulatory and legal environment facing international companies in China.

·In M&A and business structuring, Ms. Lan advised: Citi Group in selling its stake in China Guangfa Bank to China Life; ACE Limited in its global acquisition of The Chubb Corporation and the post-acquisition integration; XL Group plc in its global acquisition of Catlin Group Limited and the post-acquisition integration; Lloyd's of London in its structuring, licensing and restructuring in China; Liberty Mutual Group in its business structuring and M&A activities in China since 2003; many consumer product companies in structuring and establishing their business relationships with insurance institutions in China; many specialty insurance-product providers in the world in accessing the Chinese market; as well as multiple international industrial corporations in their M&A activities in China including anti-competition and other government reviews.
