John T.L. Koenig maintains a national practice representing management exclusively in all aspects of employee and union relations. He has a proven background in providing subject matter expertise and leadership on a wide portfolio of employment law and traditional labor matters. John has handled hundreds of trials, mediations, arbitrations and collective bargaining matters over a 25 year legal career.
John was elected managing partner of Barnes & Thornburg's Atlanta office in November 2018. Since then, the office has nearly tripled in size to over 100 teammates. The Atlanta office is now one of the 25 largest law firms in Atlanta as ranked by the Atlanta Business Chronicle. John also serves on the firm’s management committee and has been equally instrumental in helping the firm plan and execute on national growth strategies.

McKinney School of Law (JD, magna cum laude, 1998). 2021 recipient of the firm’s Camille Conway Diversity Award, which is given to a teammate who most typifies the same staunch commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion as our late partner, Camille Conway. John was also awarded the 2022 Commitment to Equality Award by the State Bar of Georgia which recognizes judges and lawyers who have shown a commitment to providing opportunities that foster a more diverse legal profession for members of underrepresented groups.
