Jae Min Jeon is a partner at Shin & Kim and the head of the International Dispute Resolution Practice Group whose main focus areas are international commercial arbitration, international investment disputes and international trade disputes.
Since 2007, Mr. Jeon has engaged in high-profile M&A arbitration cases involving Hyundai Oil Bank and Buy the Way and represented major global private equity funds, Korean conglomerates, and public corporations, such as Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power, Korea Western Power, Korea Southern Power, Korea Central Power, Korea Water Resources Corporation, Korea National Oil Corporation, and Korea Mine Rehabilitation and Mineral Resources Corporation in various commercial arbitration, international construction, and international investment disputes including investor-state dispute settlements (ISDS).
With more than a decade of experience advising on various international transactions, Mr. Jeon is known for working on international disputes from the earliest stages and ultimately winning them. In particular, he has won an international dispute representing the Defense Acquisition Program Administration regarding defense procurement, won copyright and licensing disputes representing a Korean gaming company against a Chinese gaming company, and won a case representing a Korean shipbuilder against a Singapore-based shipbuilding company, all of which earned him an arbitration award from the ALB Korea Law Awards. He has also successfully handled multiple investor-state dispute settlements (ISDS) against foreign governments.
Mr. Jeon graduated from Seoul National University College of Law, completed his master's program at Seoul National University School of Law, and received his LL.M. degree from Stanford Law School. He also completed the 33rd class of the Judicial Research and Training Institute. While studying abroad in the United States, Mr. Jeon worked as an associate at global law firm Linklaters and GE Capital. He has served as an international board member of the Seoul Bar Association.
Mr. Jeon has been recognized as a leader in international arbitration by Chambers and Legal500, selected as a leading lawyer in international transactions by The Law Times and major media outlets, and is an active member of the IBA and ICCA.
