Humberto Romero-Muci advises multinationals and Venezuelan companies on tax and customs law, tax and customs litigation and accounting matters.

Humberto has taken part in the most relevant cases of tax litigation regarding customs, transfer pricing, municipal taxes, income taxes and international arbitration matters.


Before joining D’Empaire in 2012, Humberto worked as partner at Tinoco, Travieso, Planchart, Erminy y Asociados from 1986 to 1997, Managing Partner at Romero-Muci & Asociados from 1997 to 2012, International Partner at Andersen Legal from 1997 to 2002 and later Deloitte from 2002 to 2012.

He studied law at Universidad Católica Andrés Bello (J.D. summa cum laude, 1985, first of his class), received an LLM and a Specialization and Diploma on International Taxation from Harvard University (1986), and a Doctor of Laws degree (PhD) from Universidad Central de Venezuela (2003).

He is the chair professor and head of the finance law professorship at Universidad Católica Andrés Bello, professor of tax and accounting at the LLM Tax course at the same university, and professor at the PhD courses in the Faculty of Law at Universidad Central de Venezuela.
