Practice Areas
Hannah Tildesley is a partner in the Dispute Resolution team in the Bermuda office and the Head of Contentious Trusts. She specialises in international commercial litigation, contentious trusts and insolvency.
Her practice has a particular focus on:
Banking and funds litigation
Appraisal actions
Director and shareholder disputes
Contentious trust disputes, including trust restructuring and blessing applications
Many of the matters in which she is instructed are multi-jurisdictional and frequently involve complex cross-border issues and conflict of laws. Hannah often works alongside leading onshore law firms and barristers. She also advises on the litigation aspects of corporate deals including governance issues and director duty matters, particularly where there are insolvency or regulatory concerns.
Hannah is an experienced advocate. She has appeared in numerous applications and trials before the Supreme Court of Bermuda and the Bermuda Court of Appeal as well as in arbitrations and tribunals.
Hannah has been ranked in Legal 500 since 2018 and is currently recognised as a Next Generation Partner. In 2023 she was ranked Tier 3 for Dispute Resolution by Chambers and Partners having been ranked since 2020. The 2024 Private Client Global Elite Directory recognised Hannah in the Elite Excellence category.
Career
Hannah is an experienced advocate. She has acted in various applications before the Supreme Court of Bermuda. Before moving to Bermuda, Hannah appeared in a variety of trials and applications before the English High Court and County Courts. She also appeared as sole counsel for the Respondent before the English Court of Appeal in Dammermann v Lanyon Bowdler LLP [2017] EWCA Civ 269.
She undertook pupillage at, and later practised as a tenant from, St Philips Chambers in commercial and regulatory law, before joining Appleby in 2017.
