As an Equity Partner at Grandway Law Offices, Mr. Zhang specializes in intellectual property law, handling both contentious and non-contentious matters. His practice encompasses IP-related antitrust and technical standardization issues, with a particular emphasis on technical IP matters, particularly regarding patents, technical standards, and trade secrets.
His services cover the full lifecycle of intellectual property, including:
- Patent Matters: Patent prosecution, reexamination, invalidation, administrative litigation, infringement litigation, patent analysis, and licensing.
- Trade Secrets: Construction of trade secret management systems and resolution of civil and criminal trade secret disputes.

Career
Since joining Grandway Law Offices as an Equity Partner, Mr. Zhang has successfully handled dozens of complex intellectual property cases, continuing to deepen his practice in IP sectors.
Prior to joining Grandway, Mr. Zhang served as a Partner and Head of the Patent Practice at a leading domestic law firm. During this tenure, he managed hundreds of contentious and non-contentious matters, serving numerous Fortune 500 companies. He appeared in court dozens of times, earning a reputation for excellence.
Previously, Mr. Zhang served at the China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA), holding positions in the Patent Reexamination Board, the Planning and Development Department, and the Examination Business Management Department. Notably, as the Director of the Legal Affairs Division, he was responsible for administrative reconsideration, administrative litigation, official investigations, and property preservation for the CNIPA.
Mr. Zhang was among the first group of Public Lawyers at the CNIPA and served as a Grade II Patent Examiner. He participated in the examination and response to over 1,000 patent reexamination, invalidation, reconsideration, and litigation cases, appearing in court nearly 300 times. Furthermore, he contributed to the research and formulation of the National IP "12th, 13th, and 14th Five-Year Plans," demonstrating a high level of legal policy expertise and familiarity with government administrative affairs.
Before joining the CNIPA, Mr. Zhang had already handled hundreds of legal matters covering civil, criminal, administrative, and arbitration fields. He also possesses profound experience in trademarks and copyrights. He served as a People's Assessor at a Beijing court, participating in the trial of dozens of IP cases (primarily focusing on trademarks), and co-founded the China Cultural and Creative Copyright Protection Collaboration Alliance.
