Gary heads the real estate litigation team in London. He is a Partner, with a particular focus on advising clients on disputes related to developments, real estate finance, and management issues.
He has dealt with a wide range of issues for developers, including disputes related to rights of way, restrictive covenants, party walls, Japanese knotweed and overage. He has a particular specialism in rights-of-light work and, having obtained an LLM (by research) on the topic, contaminated land.
Gary’s real estate finance experience covers high-value contested possession claims (including assisting with the enforcement of a £66 million credit facility secured by seven high-value properties, involving seven related possession claims) and title issues. His extensive management experience includes advising on all aspects of the Landlord and Tenant Act 1954 and the Landlord and Tenant (Covenants) Act 1995, as well as break options, rent reviews, dilapidations, alienation, tenant default, service charge issues and the construction of property documents.
In 2007, he was seconded to Vodafone’s estates team for six months to lead their legal team and deal with management work and issues relating to the Telecommunications Code.
