Gary is a leading property litigator, also practising in the fields of professional negligence and property damage. Gary has over 30 years’ experience, the past 10 in silk.

Gary enjoys a wide-ranging practice that encompasses advisory work and appearing as a trial and appellate advocate. He regularly wins praise for his advocacy skills, teamwork and practical commonsense.

Over recent years Gary has acted for large landowners, developers and housebuilders. He is regularly instructed by institutional investors, retailers and ultra-high net worth individuals.

Gary has appeared in many leading cases in the fields of property litigation, professional negligence and property damage. These include landlord and tenant issues, such as Gibbs v Lakeside Developments, a Court of Appeal case about forfeiture; real property cases, Bootle v GHL Property Management and Development Ltd a high-profile boundary dispute and Tejani v Fitzroy Place another high-profile noise case. Gary has significant experience in disputes about noise, easements and boundaries.

Gary appeared successfully in the landmark Court of Appeal property identity fraud case of P&P/Dreamvar. This has led Gary to be instructed in many professional negligence cases arising from property fraud. Gary regularly appears in cases concerning fires and floods often having to deal with landlord and tenant, property rights, insurance and negligence issues.

In 2020 Gary was appointed a Recorder of the Crown Court and in 2015 he was appointed a Bencher of the Middle Temple. He was the Chair of the Chancery Bar’s Wellbeing and Social Responsibility Committee from 2020 until 2025.
