Emma is a Partner and head of Eversheds Sutherland Pensions team in the Midlands. She advises trustees of large DB and hybrid schemes and household name corporates. Emma’s experience covers a wide range of issues including liability risk reduction for legacy defined benefit pension schemes, scheme design change, consolidating pension arrangements and advising on new developments in relation to freedom and choice in pensions. She has a strong reputation for dealing with distressed scheme situations following her support to the BHS pension scheme trustees including giving evidence at a select committee hearing, and is very experienced in dealing with Pensions Regulator matters: moral hazard investigations; valuation discussions; auto enrolment sanctions and disclosure demands. Originally trained as a litigator, retains an interest in disputes. Advises on Pension Ombudsman cases, handles court applications including rectification actions, representative beneficiary cases and professional negligence actions.
