Emily Cobb is Deputy Head of Advanced E-Discovery and A.I. Strategy for Ropes & Gray with a focus on Advanced E-Discovery, Generative A.I. Strategy and Strategic Litigation across numerous practice areas. With over 20 years of experience, Emily is a trusted senior advisor to firm clients on a wide range of issues including information governance, discovery dispute resolution, efficient and innovative applications of document review technology, mobile device discovery, and Technology Assisted Review (TAR). Emily also consults on the development of advanced in-house E-Discovery programs that enable clients to establish and refine internal E-Discovery capabilities and establish a platform for the responsible application of advances in A.I.

Emily works closely with Ropes & Gray’s privacy attorneys and legal technology professionals to improve risk assessment, defensibility and efficiency in E-Discovery. As part of the firm’s Advanced E-Discovery and A.I. Strategy Group, Emily has led advancements in the development of a new, technology-assisted approach to investigative reviews: the Bifurcated Time-Based Technology-Assisted Investigative Review (BAT), allowing clients an edge in fast-paced government investigations and providing greater transparency, efficiency, and budget predictability.

Emily also develops best practices and strategies for electronic discovery as part of Ropes & Gray’s interactive E-Discovery training for attorneys, the #1-ranked formal training program for the past several years by Vault. She invests time conducting CLE courses for attorneys outside of Ropes & Gray as well and regularly speaks on sophisticated issues at the forefront of E-Discovery.

Emily is an active member of the Ropes & Gray LGBTQ+ forum, has an active pro bono practice and received the Immigration Equality Safe Haven Award for excellence in pro bono representation.
