Edvinas is the Co-Head of the Tax Disputes team at MOTIEKA, with over 15 years of experience in high-stakes tax litigation and strategic tax structuring. He advises multinational corporations, high-net-worth individuals, and fintech innovators on complex transactions involving direct taxation, VAT, and transfer pricing, both in Lithuania and across global jurisdictions.
Edvinas regularly structures cross-border operations involving Malta, Cyprus, the UAE, Hong Kong, the Netherlands, the UK, the US, and Estonia, helping businesses navigate legal frameworks to make effective and compliant use of international tax opportunities.
A seasoned tax litigator, Edvinas represents clients at all stages of dispute resolution, including proceedings before Lithuanian courts, the Court of Justice of the European Union, and the European Commission.
To date, Edvinas has helped clients recover or avoid over EUR 16 million in unlawful tax assessments.
Edvinas also contributes to policy development, engaging with the State Tax Inspectorate and participating in public commentary processes, including the drafting of guidance on holding company substance requirements.

Work Highlights
• A dispute worth more than EUR 3 million in calculated VAT related to triangulation and “safety net” provisions.
• Negotiations with tax authorities in which they backed away from a previous demand that his client pay more than EUR 2.7 million in calculated taxes.
• A dispute worth over EUR 800,000 in calculated personal income tax which resulted in his client receiving more than EUR 180,000 from the tax authorities in compensation.
