Rimantas is a highly experienced international arbitration specialist with a strong focus on investment treaty and high-stakes commercial disputes. He advises both private clients and sovereign states, acting as lead counsel, co-counsel, or consultant in complex arbitrations under ICSID, UNCITRAL, SCC, ICC, LCIA, and other major institutional rules.
In addition to his counsel work, Rimantas is frequently appointed as an arbitrator or expert in international disputes and is listed as a recommended arbitrator by several prominent arbitral institutions globally.
His expertise spans bilateral and multilateral investment treaties, FIDIC construction disputes, international energy and trade law, sanctions, and public international law. He also has deep experience advising on human rights issues and has successfully represented clients in landmark proceedings before the Court of Justice of the EU and the European Court of Human Rights.
Rimantas is the only Lithuanian practitioner who leads international investor-state arbitration cases without involving foreign firms against sovereigns (Denmark, Kyrgyzstan, Lithuania, etc.). The importance of this service is growing exponentially.
Rimantas is consistently recognised by leading legal directories, including Chambers and Partners, Lexology (Arbitration and Commercial Litigation), and GAR 100, as a trusted expert in complex cross-border disputes.
