Co-chairs Smith Anderson's Environmental/Energy and Renewable Energy Groups. With over 20 years of experience, his practice focuses on environmental, land use and OSHA law and litigation, including regulatory compliance, permitting, risk management, due diligence and audits, contaminated property transfers, contract issues, and defense of agency enforcement actions and private party claims. His energy practice includes complex electric public utility property and infrastrucuture transactions, license agreements for tower and wireless telecommunications equipment, solar generating facility development, and other renewable energy projects.
Joined Smith Anderson in 1998 and became partner in 2004. Assistant Attorney General, North Carolina Department of Justice Environmental Division (1992-1998). Honors include: The Best Lawyers in America - Environmental Law (2011-2018); Business North Carolina Legal Elite - Environmental (2015); and Martindale-Hubbell AV Rated.
