Darrell Jarvis’s business law practice is focused on franchising, distribution, leasing and construction, with a focus on the retail and hospitality sectors.
Darrell has extensive experience advising franchisors with respect to disclosure documents, franchise agreements, default enforcement, insolvent franchisees and the purchase and sale of franchised businesses. Darrell has extensive experience with respect to non-traditional franchises in highway facilities, hospital and educational institutions. He has advised on the co-branding of franchised businesses and in the acquisition and divestiture of franchise systems. Darrell also represents Canada’s most sophisticated franchisee association.
He advises manufacturers and distributors with respect to supply and distribution arrangements, co-manufacturing agreements, warehousing agreements and disputes.
Darrell acts for owners and contractors in construction matters, drafting construction documents and negotiating the resolution of disputes. He has drafted construction agreements for hospitals, railroads, churches, restaurants, and other commercial facilities.
His leasing practice is primarily tenant based, and includes experience with ground and build-to-suit leases for free-standing buildings, premises in shopping centre premises, big box centres, street front locations, airports, hospitals and universities.
