Chan has acted in numerous high-stakes trials and appeals in both Canada and the United States. In recent years, he has helped lead the defence of several multibillion-dollar cases involving competition law, class actions and novel public law issues. As part of his commitment to pro bono, Chan has represented LGBT rights advocates and disability rights groups. Chan clerked for Justice Michael J. Moldaver at the Supreme Court of Canada and Judge Ronnie Abrams of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York. He also interned for Justice Dalveer Bhandari of the Supreme Court of India. He is on the board of the Canadian Foundation for AIDS Research, is a trustee of The Daily Princetonian and a governor of Upper Canada College. Chan coaches Osgoode Hall’s Laskin Moot Team and is a member of International Association of Defense Counsel, The Advocates’ Society, The Federation of Asian Canadian Lawyers and the South Asian Bar Association.
