Mr. Bok-Gi Choi is a partner at Shin & Kim. Mr. Choi’s main areas of practice include general corporate transactions, corporate rehabilitation, bankruptcy, restructuring, and mergers & acquisitions. In the M&A process of several companies undergoing rehabilitation (including Daehan Silver Foil, Sanbon Station, Korea Line Corporation, Hankook Ilbo, Pan Ocean, Dong-A Steel, Lake Hills Suncheon, Bluebird CC, STX Heavy Industries, Dong-A Tanker, and SsangYong Motor), Mr. Choi provided legal advice and represented the rehabilitation company or the purchaser. He handled numerous corporate reorganization, reconciliation, and bankruptcy procedures, including for Korea Industrial Development, Jinro, Good Morning City, Seo Tong, Yongchang Music Instrument, Sechang, Knowledge-on, Shinil, Wooyoung, a Lehman Brothers subsidiary GKI Development and Maewha, STX Heavy Industry, Steel & Resources, Iljin LED, KT ENS, ADM21, Ultra Construction Group, three subsidiaries of Tongyang Group, and Ssangyong Motors. He also advises on other general corporate legal matters for numerous companies. Mr. Choi graduated from the College of Law of Seoul National University majoring in public law. He completed coursework at Seoul National University Graduate School of Law (LL.M) and also completed the 30th term at the Judicial Research and Training Institute. Since joining Shin & Kim in 2001, he has been dedicated to corporate rehabilitation procedures, bankruptcy, workout, other restructuring and rehabilitation company M&A. He is recognized as an expert in bankruptcy and corporate restructuring. Mr. Choi has presented or debated in various domestic and international law seminars on insolvency and corporate restructuring and has been recognized as a Leading Individual in the field of restructuring and insolvency by well-known foreign publishing entities such as Chambers Asia-Pacific, IFLR 1000 and Asialaw Profiles. He has been selected as the best lawyer in the field of “Korean law firm evaluation: corporate rehabilitation, bankruptcy for in-house counsels: for the second consecutive time.
