Benjamin Wells

A Partner in Simpson Thacher’s Registered Funds Practice in New York, Benjamin Wells is at the forefront of developing novel and commercial solutions for clients to provide individual investors access to private markets across all asset classes – real estate, private equity, private credit, infrastructure, sports and others. Within real estate he has advised on the formation of publicly offered non-traded REITs and represented some of the first privately placed REITs and REITs registered under the Investment Company Act of 1940. He has also represented clients with respect to offshore offerings, DSTs and opportunity zones.

His practice focuses on advising leading asset management sponsors, including Blackstone, Blue Owl, Brookfield, Clarion, Cohen & Steers, CVC, KKR, New Mountain, PGIM and Starwood Capital Group.

Benjamin is on the Institute for Portfolio Alternatives’ Board of Directors as an Industry Partner.
