The focus of Alexander and his team is on handling cases in the areas of general administrative law (such as permit, subsidy, and enforcement matters) and environment & planning law. Legislation in the area of access to government information and - in this context - the protection of company secrets also falls under their expertise. With this expertise they support key sector groups of CMS: mainly Real Estate, Corporate and Energy.

If necessary, the team also represents clients before administrative-judicial bodies such as district courts, the Council of State (Raad van State) and the Trade and Industry Appeals Tribunal (CBb).

The clientele of the team is diverse and includes amongst others real estate investors and developers, but also companies in for example the hospitality sector, pharmacy and retail.

Career

Alexander IJkelenstam heads our administrative law practice (excluding the procurement practice). He works at CMS since 2016 and is Counsel since 1 July 2023.
