Dr. Hollaway is Chair of Gibson Dunn’s Energy Regulation and Litigation practice. He handles a broad range of energy transactional, regulatory and litigation matters. In addition to his law degree, Dr. Hollaway also has a Ph.D. in engineering from MIT. As a result, he has both a deep legal and technical understanding of energy, including renewable power generation and transmission. He has extensive experience in energy project development and regulatory and transactional experience in electric power and transmission, including transaction structuring, due diligence, contract negotiation, and approvals. He has detailed knowledge of tariffs and practices of RTOs and ISOs such as PJM, MISO, CAISO, NYISO, SPP, ISO-NE and ERCOT. He represents clients in administrative proceedings, including obtaining required approvals, rate cases, complaints, rulemakings, and administrative litigation and related federal and state court appeals. He also has expertise in oil and gas matters, including pipelines and Liquified natural gas, and nuclear energy matters under NRC and state regulation.
