Urs Hofer

Urs Hofer is co-head of the Funds and Investment Management practice at Walder Wyss in Zurich. He specialises in the regulation of financial services and financial institutions and the structuring, issuance, listing, trading and offering of all types of financial instruments with a particular focus on asset management, wealth management, structured products and open-end and closed-end funds covering all asset classes and investor categories. Urs Hofer advises major Swiss and international fund management companies, asset managers, banks, securities firms, insurance companies, pension funds and investment foundations on regulatory and civil law matters of strategic importance as well as on new developments (e.g. ESG products, digital assets). He frequently represents clients in regulatory proceedings before the Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority (FINMA), the Occupational Pension Supervisory Commission (OPSC) and SIX Swiss Exchange. He is a member of the Legal and Compliance Committee of SFAMA, the Swiss investment fund and asset management industry’s self-regulatory and industry body.

Urs Hofer was educated at the University of Zurich (lic. iur., 2004) and holds an LL.M. degree from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LL.M. Banking Law and Financial Regulation, 2012). Before joining Walder Wyss, he worked for over a decade with various financial institutions and law firms.
