Career
Tomás is a lawyer specialising in restructuring and insolvency with more than eighteen years of experience. He has participated in major bankruptcy proceedings across a wide range of economic sectors. His work includes acting as insolvency administrator — in cases such as Promociones Habitat, Don Piso and Proinosa (construction and real estate), Cacaolat (food industry) and Grupo ZED (technology) — as well as advising financially distressed companies to reach payment agreements with their creditors, as in the case of Top Proyectos (formerly TEYCO). He has also successfully defended the interests of companies and their Boards of Directors in liquidation proceedings, including Spanair, where the insolvency was classified as fortuitous (non-culpable), fully exonerating board members from liability.
He has extensive experience in corporate and financial restructuring, advising both financial creditors and companies seeking to restructure debt in pre-insolvency scenarios. His expertise spans multiple sectors, including renewable energy, the metallurgical industry, plastics and retail.
He has been appointed Insolvency Administrator by the Commercial Courts of Barcelona, Madrid and Santander on more than seventy-three occasions.
Before joining Fieldfisher, he worked in the restructuring and insolvency departments of Roca Junyent and RCD–DWF.
Alongside his legal practice, he has been a professor of Commercial and Insolvency Law at the Escola de Pràctica Jurídica of the Barcelona Bar Association. He has also provided specialized training, participated as a speaker in insolvency law seminars and contributed to leading publications on bankruptcy and restructuring matters.
